Yeah. So I was driving around a couple of days ago and I noticed the above number plate: WARP 5 (I think it was on a late model BMW, but really, that's not important). So I get to thinking about whether all the other WARP's are taken (insert appropriate Scotty phrase here), and how that having one would be pretty cool, but pretty geeky. Then I wondered whether or not there's an IMPULS or something similar out there. Course, then you'd have to wonder whether this was really a Star Trek homage, or whether they'd just bought the car (or even the license plate) on an impulse. Or maybe they're a deodorant exec or something. Which made me wonder if WARP 5 is even a Star Trek homage. But surely it must be...
Then the lights turned green and that was about it for that train of thought.

Remember that Warp 9 is the fastest warp speed. I also gather it's logarithmic, although they never pay any attention to such details in the series. But if that's the case, Warp 5 is a bit of a crawl, really.

I always thought the warp number was just the factor relative to the speed of light, i.e Warp 1 equals the speed of light, Warp 5 is 5 times the speed of light. But I'm not going to take the easy internet related option of proving myself wrong.
Actually I want to know if all the WINGs are gone - A, B, X and Y. Those would be good. Also WOOKIE, OBIWAN, JEDI, R2D2 and C3PO, AT ST and AT AT, TUSKEN, BANTHA, and if you wanted your cafr to be destroyed so you could collect on the insurance, JARJAR.

speaking of number plates, today i saw C2H3CL and stood around for a while wondering why. chloroethene, monomer of pvc. no doubt it was on some fancy-pants kind of car as owned by that type what like to wear such a plastic (though god knows why in auckland - perhaps the clothes just slip off real easy what with all the sweating). all i know about the car was that it was red. and roundy, much like my forehead.
