So, turns out I am a freak. No surprises, I suspect, to many of you out there, but confirmation all the same.
Upon inspection of yet another x-ray of one of my ankles, (once again proving that indoor sports and my ankles were not made to mix. Although, annoyingly, this latest injury was done to my supposedly good ankle...), the friendly SportsMed doctor pointed to a particularly knobbly bit of bone at the back of my ankle and declared that I possess an Os Trigonum. "Huzzah!" I cried, for no doubt this "small, round bone" situated "just behind the ankle joint" makes me far, far superior to normal humans, and my secret plans to take over the world will now be able to be pursued with renewed vigour. Yeah, right - seems that it's a naturally occuring thingo that occurs in 5-15% of normal feet, and really does bugger all, good or bad. Hmmm, am disappointed with the boring nature of my freakyness.
In better news from yesterday, a quick chat with a friend called Clinton has ended up with me scoring a nice, shiny new job as a part-time barman at Viaduct and Dilusso's. So, from next week onwards I'll be in there, slaving away over a hot bourbon, for one night a week (probably a Saturday). And you'll all have to come in and say hi... although if you don't, I can't really blame you as it is on the strip...
I had so much more to say, but the 105 exams I have left to mark (goddamit, did none of these students even go to lectures???) (goddamit, who am I to throw stones???) are calling out to me.
Righto.
Posted by saint at November 13, 2003 03:10 PMI too have exams. 22 down, 58 to go.
I too wonder what drugs these guys are on:
"The causes of the Cold War resulted, in fact, in the Cold War itself."
stuning insight that.
Posted by: torshin at November 13, 2003 03:35 PMOne of my favourites so far has been "Imagined Communities are communities which are imagined." Uhuh, that Anderson dude, he wrote some good stuff...
And as for those that keep trying to tell me that the Clash of Civilisations thesis was written about in Barber's Jihad vs. McWorld article/book... gah.
Luckily I'm just marking the short answer section, I think I'd go mad if I had to do the essays as well...
Posted by: saint at November 13, 2003 04:26 PMOro..That's fun. I have an OS Trigonum as well. My mother's first comment? 'I always knew you were a freak'. It was not meant in a mean way, of course. ^-^
However, my Trigonum is longer than the current X-rays of the usual ones I've managed to find so far. Yay for me. And I broke mine. Double-yay. It's fun to see that someone else has a Trigonum like me, though!!
