DAPS Inc Update

Apparently by moving into our new flat we now fall within the bounds of that mighty organisation the Deans Avenue Precinct Society Incorporated, and are to be subjected to its monthly pink newsletter updates of all that is important in the world of Deans Ave and its surrounds. Then again, sarcastic as I may be about such a society, at least now I know that "The space where Nancy's was has now been cleared and consent has been granted for traveller's accommodation and a restaurant to be built on this site." Lucky they tore the old one down really, isn't it?

I see that, as per usual, my last blog was over a month ago. I honestly don't know where the time goes, especially now that everything's calmed down somewhat. I keep thinking of great things to blog about at inopportune moments and then, as is my want, completely forget about them the next time I sit down in front of a computer. Usually a couple of minutes after said thought. Similar to the whole Party Guitar Syndrome - we all know we know how to play a whole bunch of cool songs, but we just can't quite remember exactly which songs they are, and then we start playing Radiohead far too early on in the evening...

Probably the best happening of the last month would be the addition to the flat crew of Thomasina, a very cute, extremely bouncy, rather scratchy and bitey (especially at 3 o'clock in the morning) polar bear! No wait, kitten. That's the one.

She's a ginger, which is a rare thing in cat world apparently (rare to be a ginger female cat I mean), and her name (cos everyone just loves to ask) comes from a 1964 Disney movie that Mel watched in her youth - The Three Lives of Thomasina - apparently my suggestion of Couscous was far too, um, foody? And while we're talking about polar bears, anyone else noticed that popular culture has one again gone and taken a TBALC thing and made it its own? I point to Lost as exhibit A, and the glory of the original TBALC website as exhibit B, and then rest my case.

Did we actually get any donations towards a polar bear? Did we in fact spend said donations on coke? Ben, I'm looking at you...

...Oh, and if anyone else other than Bishy is thinking about going out and buying a bed, come buy it off me! Going cheap, and it's a good one.

Update: link to the lame arse Lost forum that was originally inlcuded now removed, as apparently it contained spoilers. Who knew?
